Pinus monticola - Tree
This is probably the largest Pinus monticola I have come across in the Sierra Nevada. It was growing near the Grouse Ridge Campground, in Nevada County, California at 7,500 feet.
Unfortunatly in died during a prolonged drought in the early 1990's. However, many large trees still remain in the area.
Photo taken in July 1985.
