Cupressus sargentii is the most widespead Cupressus in California, scattered throughout the central and northern coast ranges. It is a highly variable species and and takes on many forms from medium sized trees such as these pictured to dense shrubby thickets. It is the only species of Cupressus in California that overlaps the range of another Cupressus (Cupressus macnabiana).
