- Cones
Showing partially exerted bracts, especially in cones not fully developed.
Taken August 9th, 2003, just west of Minaret Summit in Mono County.
The fully developed cone is 12 cm (4.5 inches) long.
Cones from trees on Saint Mary's road about 12 miles away on the east side of the Sierra near the town of Mammoth Lakes have no exerted bracts even on developing cones and mature cones are up to 22 cm (9 inches).
